A woman is recovering after she was shot in the head while sitting inside an SUV with two of her friends in Southwest Philadelphia over the weekend.

The 30-year-old victim and her friends were inside the vehicle near a club on 52nd Street and Woodland Avenue Sunday at 4:40 a.m. The three women then noticed an unidentified man leaning on the back of the SUV, smoking a cigarette and using his phone.

“So my sister pulled the window down and said, ‘Hey, we’re about to pull off. Can you move?’ He didn’t respond,” the victim’s friend, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10. “So I got out of the car and said, ‘Hey, we’re about to pull off.’ He said, ‘Okay.’”

The victim’s friend said the man then approached the passenger side door and opened fire.

“Next thing I know, I see an arm come up. Three shots in the window,” she said.

Three bullets burst through the window and the victim was shot in the head once. The gunman fled the scene and the victim was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.

“It’s just too many guns,” the victim’s friend said. “People don’t care no more.”

Police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
