Shooting in Southwest Philadelphia Leaves Man Dead in Minivan

A 39-year-old man died early Sunday after police say he was shot while sitting in a minivan on a Southwest Philadelphia street.

Police responded to the intersection of 52nd Street and Woodland Avenue, in Kingsessing, at 5:12 a.m. When they arrived, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside a minivan.

The man was pronounced dead there, police said.

The corner of 52nd and Woodland has a functioning city camera, according to police. Detectives were working to obtain and review that surveillance video early Sunday in hopes that it captured the shooting.

The man's identity has not been released.
