A high-ranking lawyer in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is under investigation after allegations surfaced that she misused her office, according to NBC10 sources.
Multiple sources tell NBC10’s Deanna Durante that the Attorney General’s Office is investigating Lynn Nichols, the assistant chief in the D.A.’s homicide unit.
Multiple law enforcement sources tell NBC10 Nichols is accused of asking a Philadelphia Police Detective to remove a car from the police computer system that was reported as stolen. The sources say the detective removed the car’s “stolen status” under Nichols’ orders.
Sources say the car was being driven by a male acquaintance of Nichols and that Nichols was trying to prevent him from getting caught behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.
NBC10 called a spokeswoman with the District Attorney’s Office and emailed her asking for Nichols’ employment status. Those calls and emails were not returned.
NBC10 also went to Nichols’ Overbrook home to reach her but there was no answer at her door.
NBC10 also contacted the Attorney General’s office. A spokesperson with the office would not confirm or deny the existence of the investigation.
