Some Power Restored in NJ

More than 90,000 customers were without power Saturday

Thousands remain without electricity along the New Jersey shore after a strong nor'easter knocked down trees and power lines.

Atlantic City Electric says about 43,000 customers were without power as of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, mostly in Cape May County. That's down from a high of more than 90,000 customers without power on Saturday.

Cape May County officials have set up shelters to help those without power.

Utility spokeswoman Bridget Shelton says it hopes to have power restored to most customers by later Sunday, though it's not likely everyone will be restored.

Crews from other utility companies are helping with the repairs, and Gov. Chris Christie has promised that state crews will help clear snow-covered secondary roads so workers can access trouble spots.
