Man Throws Brick Into Deli, Steals Cash Register

A Center City deli manager was left picking up the pieces after someone threw a brick into his business and stole the cash register.

“The only thing that he did was take the whole cash register and take off,” said Pac A Deli manager Damar Edi.

Sometime overnight a suspect threw a brick through the glass in front of the deli at 12th and Chancellor Streets in Center City Philadelphia and grabbed the register.

Edi said police recovered the pried open register about a block away. An undisclosed amount of money was missing.

Edi said this is the first time he knows of that a smash and grab theft occurred in the 25-year history of the deli.

The store turned over surveillance video of the crime to Philadelphia Police.

There was no immediate word on a possible suspect in this case.
