Slain Local Musician Honored With Statue, Tribute Concert

A slain musician was honored in Bucks County Saturday night.

A statue of the late Danny DeGennaro was unveiled before a benefit concert at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope. DeGennaro was a singer, guitarist and songwriter who was killed during a botched robbery attempt at his Bristol Township home in December of 2011. He was 56-years-old.

During Saturday’s event, musicians who played with DeGennaro over the course of his career performed his music in his honor.

“He’s actually become our local town hero,” said Edward Mero, DeGennaro’s friend. “He went outside the town here into national acts in California and Florida. But he always came back to where his roots were.”

Proceeds from the show will go toward a scholarship in DeGennaro’s name from Bucks County Community College.
