New Jersey Theme Park Loses Power Amid Strong Storms

Six Flags was one of tens of thousands of utility customers across the state to lose power

A theme park in New Jersey lost power Wednesday afternoon amid thunderstorms, officials said.

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township lost power sometime before 1 p.m. a spokeswoman for the park announced.

The park said that all outdoor rides had been shut down due to severe thunderstorms moving through the area, and parkgoers only had to be removed from one indoor ride.

No one was hurt, and power was restored later in the afternoon.

Heavy rains and strong winds battered parts of New Jersey late Wednesday morning, knocking down trees and power lines. No injuries were reported.

No major delays were reported on the state's major roadways.

But the Camden Riverline service was briefly suspended between the Pennsauken Transit Center and Route 73 in Pennsauken due to a downed tree blocking the tracks.

Roughly 43,000 people had no power as of Wednesday afternoon. But nearly all those customers were expected to have their service restored by Wednesday night.

The hardest hit area was northern Jersey, where nearly 25,000 customers had no power.
