Fire Inside Atlantic City Casino

Fire officials say some hotel guests were briefly evacuated Wednesday night after a fire broke out at an Atlantic City casino.

The fire started at about 7:45 p.m. in a guest room on the fifth floor of the Showboat Casino Hotel.

Officials say smoke alarms were activated and a sprinkler system helped contain the fire to only room 544. They say a man was in the room at the time the fire started. He was not injured.

The fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the hotel were evacuated, but guests were allowed back in after about an hour.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
