Shore Warning: Beware of Strong Rip Currents

Swimmers should use caution because there's a moderate risk of rip currents along the Jersey shore Tuesday.

Police and lifeguards on Long Beach Island rescued three swimmers in Long Beach Township and one in Barnegat Light on Monday.

Long Beach Township beach supervisor Don Myers told the Asbury Park Press the people were in the water when a rip current pulled their feet out from under them.

Myers says three other people were rescued from 78th Street, and another 10 were pulled to safety at the same time off 18th and 20th streets.

Lifeguards are no longer on duty along many Jersey shore beaches.
