Masked Men Gun Down Man Along West Oak Lane Street

Despite the attempts of medics and doctors, a man died after being shot in the West Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia overnight.

Two masked gunmen opened fire on a 26-year-old man along N 20th Street near 66th Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Monday, said Philadelphia Police.

“Upon police arrival they found a male… suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip — he was unconscious lying on the street,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

It is believed the bullet bounced off the man’s hip and hit his heart.

Small said medics rushed the man to Einstein Medical Center where the victim underwent surgery. Despite doctors doing all they could, the man died around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The gunmen, dressed in all black and wearing ski masks, fled the scene on foot, witnesses told police.
