Man Ambushed, Shot 8 Times on South Philly Street

The shooting victim's car crashed into a house on 22nd and Snyder Avenue.

Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and the residents of a South Philadelphia home fixing their damaged exterior.

Authorities tell NBC10 that a 29-year-old man was ambushed by several men on 22nd and Snyder Avenue around 9 p.m. Thursday. They say 28 shots were fired, eight of them hit the victim.

Several homes on the block were hit by bullets and one home was hit by the victim's car which continued to move after he'd been shot.

According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers found the victim slumped behind the steering wheel of a Chevy Impala. He'd been shot in the head, chest, back and legs. 

The victim was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he died a short time later.

Investigators are looking for four or five men who were seen running from the scene in connection with the shooting.
