Shooting Victim Collapses on Police Cruiser

Authorities say a man wounded in a weekend shooting near a North Jersey bar collapsed onto the hood of a police cruiser.

The Jersey Journal reports the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Jersey City police officers heard the shot on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and soon encountered a crowd standing outside the bar. The crowd began to scatter when police arrived, and the wounded man soon ran in front of the cruiser and collapsed onto the hood.

Officers saw the man had been shot in the abdomen and asked him what had happened, but he wouldn't answer any questions. He was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for what authorities called a "life-threatening" wound.

Further details on the man's condition have not been disclosed.
