Shooting Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

Police charged a suspect with attempted murder in connection with a January shooting that left a 25-year-old man critically wounded.

Anmed Ifill faces attempted murder charges in connection with a January shooting that left a 25-year-old Wilmington man critically wounded, according to officials.

Officers on foot patrol in the area of Vandever Avenue and N. Claymont Street heard gunfire in the 1300 block of Vandever Avenue at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 13.

Authorities located the victim in the street suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators identified Ifill as the alleged shooter.

On Feb. 4 detectives responded to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, where Ifill was incarcerated on unrelated charges, and arrested him on attempted murder and weapon charges.

He is being held on an additional $400,000 cash bail.
