Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect

With the summer heat and humidity comes the storms

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for all of Southeastern Pennsylvania except Philadelphia and Delaware counties. Click here for a list of the following counties effected.

Storms are expected to move through the Lehigh Valley bringing heavy rain along with lightning and gusty wind.  Flash flooding is also possible.

The storms are isolated so not everywhere could get hit, areas that do could see damage.

Much of the area will feel the heat and humidity this weekend but a few may even deal with strong or severe thunderstorms.

Storms were slowly moving south across the Lehigh Valley early afternoon and will continue to push south late this afternoon.

These storms have a history of producing very heavy rain, gusty wind, and quarter size hail. Once a storm develops or moves into a region it will remain stationary causing flooding of roadways and poor drainage areas.

The storms will affect the suburbs north and west of the Philadelphia area over the next few hours before diminishing tonight around sunset or 8:20 p.m.

More storms are possible in the same areas or a little farther south and east over the next two days.
