Seaside Park Officer Charged With Robbery

Stafford Police arrested two men, one of them an officer in Seaside Park, for assault and robbery.

The charges stem from an attack outside LA's Bar in Stafford on September 9, APP reports.

Eric Berkoben Jr., 23, a resident of Stafford and a Class II police officer with the Seaside Park force, hid in wooded area near the bar for the victim, Oliver Coello.  Police said Berkoben was accompanied by another man, Nathaniel Shoemaker, 23, also of Stafford.

Detectives said the two men jumped Coello, beat him over the head and face, and then took his ID and cash.  Coello was found later by Stafford police, wounded and stumbling through the street.

Both accused men were released on $10,000 bail.
