Police Identify Victim in Deadly  I-95 Hit-&-Run

Pennsylvania State Police have identified the victim and alleged hit-and-run driver involved in a deadly accident on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.

Investigators tell NBC10 that Ward Bennett, 46, was behind the wheel of a tractor trailer when he allegedly hit Gerald Martin, 56, who was walking on the highway shortly before midnight Friday. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators say Bennett fled north on 95, past the Cottman Avenue exit near mile marker 26. Police later found the tractor trailer in Lumberton, New Jersey and towed it back to Philadelphia for further investigation.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation
