Pennsylvania Hit-&-Run Suspect Says ‘Shouldn't Have Been Driving': Police

Police allege that a man arrested in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist told investigators that he had used drugs before getting behind the wheel and "shouldn't have been driving."

Fifty-seven-year-old Thomas Gill of Scranton was charged Monday in Lackawanna County with homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault, and other counts in the death of 26-year-old Michael Harmer.

Authorities say Harmer was killed when a sport utility vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and jumped a curb at about 7 a.m. Sunday in Scranton.

Police allege that Gill told police during an interview Monday that he had used heroin, cocaine and marijuana and expressed remorse, saying "I should've (caught) a cab."

Court documents don't list an attorney for Gill and a listed number for him couldn't be found Tuesday. [[238427591, C]]
