3 Arrested in Short Stand-Off

Chester Pike was closed between Pine and Calcon Hook Road for a short time Thursday morning.

Chopper 10 was over the scene of an emergency situation in Collingdale, Delaware County early Thursday morning.

Police tell NBC10's Byron Scott that they responded to a call to a home on Chester Pike around 4:15 a.m. after neighbors heard what they thought were shots fired. A pedestrian in the area also reported hearing gun shots as he walked past the home.

When police arrived at the house, they saw three males outside. All three ran into the house and shut off the lights, authorities said. Officers heard similar sounds to what the neighbors heard and called in the Emergency Response Team.

Around 7 a.m., two teens came outside. The third suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Darien Featherstone-Brown of Clifton Avenue, refused to come out and ERT went inside to remove him. All three males were taken into custody.

Featherstone-Brown was being held on $500,000 bail. He is charged with criminal conspiracy, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, corruption of minors and weapons charges, according to court records.

A 1-year-old baby was in the house with the suspects. Police also found a gun, ammunition, open bottles of alcohol and what is suspected to be marijuana. The mother of the child was at work at the time of the incident -- apparently, the adult male was supposed to be babysitting.

None of the suspects live in the house with the woman and her baby, police said.

Who was actually firing the gun remains a mystery pending DNA testing.

The incident forced the shutdown of Chester Pike between Pine Street and Calcon Hook Road.
