A man who police say was caught on body cam video pushing a SEPTA Transit Police sergeant to the ground faces charges in the case.
The suspect, Sorrell Groves, surrendered to police Wednesday afternoon.
Police say Groves attacked a transit police sergeant Monday night at 58th Street and Angora Terrace in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood near SEPTA's Angora Station that serves the Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line.
An officer responded to the station for a report of people on the track area around 7:15 p.m. The officer spotted the suspect leaving the track area and notified a transit police sergeant, according to investigators.
Footage from the Sgt. Lynn Perrone's body cam shows her arriving at the station and approaching the man. The man then charged at her and knocked her to the ground before fleeing the scene. The sergeant suffered both head and back injuries. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where she was treated and released.
Groves, 37, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, defiant trespass and related charges. Courts records don't list an attorney who could comment on Groves' behalf.
