Commuter bus and tractor-trailer collide in Philly, 16 hurt

A SEPTA bus and a tractor-trailer collided in Philadelphia Tuesday morning, sending 16 people to a hospital.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Route 5 bus was going northbound on Frankford Avenue near Orthodox Street in the city's Frankford neighborhood when it collided with the truck, which was making a turn at the intersection.

The 15 passengers on the bus were taken to Einstein Medical Center. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The bus driver was also hospitalized.

Bus routes 3, 5 and J were detoured as police investigated. The crash was cleared around 8:30 a.m.
