Caught on Camera: SEPTA Bus Robbery

Man boards SEPTA bus to rob a man who he threatened to rob earlier, cops say

Philadelphia Police asked for the public’s help Wednesday morning to track down a suspect investigators say robbed a guy on a busy SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia earlier this month.

The robbery was caught on bus surveillance video.

Here is what happened, according to police.

A man was waiting for a SEPTA bus when a man -- described as a black man with short hair and a moustache around 18 to 21 years old, 200-pounds and 5-feet-10-inches tall who was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans -- announced a robbery.

“Give me something or I’ll call my crew,” police say the suspect told the alleged victim.

The alleged victim ignored the threat and jumped on another bus, police said.

The suspect then jumped on that bus at 52nd and Market Streets and can be seen summoning two other men. He again demanded the alleged victim’s property, cops said.

“You making this difficult,” the suspect allegedly said. “Just give me what you got.”

The main suspect then grabbed the man and took his trans pass and cell phone out of his pocket and darted off the bus, along with the two other men -- who police called persons of interest -- at 52nd and Haverford Streets.

There were other people on the bus who can be seen looking at the alleged theft and the man who were allegedly involved.

Police describe the two people of interest as both being black men between 18 to 21 years old. One man is about 5-feet-10-inches tall and 160 pounds who was wearing a green shirt with “Dirty Clean” written on it, tan pants and a camouflage hat. The other man is around 5-feet-11-inches tall and 170 pounds who was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a black and blue hat who had a key-chain necklace.

Anyone who saw anything on the bus or recognizes anyone in the surveillance video should contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-8477, call South Detectives Det. Holman at 215-686-3183/3184 or submit an anonymous tip online.
