S. Jersey Teacher, Coach Dies in Crash

Father’s Day was a day of grief for one South Jersey family.

A father of four and high school teacher died after a car crash Sunday morning, reported the Philadelphia Daily News.

Bob Barth was driving north on Route 42 in Bellmawr, Camden County, when his SUV crashed into an abandoned vehicle at about 6:30 a.m. Barth’s car flipped on impact, ejecting him from it. He was not wearing his seatbelt.

Barth was taken to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after.

His family says Barth may have had a medical emergency, such as a seizure, causing the crash, according to the Daily News,.

They say he was on his way to Sportz Central, a facility Barth’s brother owns, where both men coached baseball to kids ranging from Little League to college.

Barth was 59 and from Winslow Township. He taught high school history in South Jersey for more than 30 years and coached both baseball and basketball.

“He always had a good demeanor, always upbeat and funny,” Lindenwold High School athletic director, Derryk Sellers, told the Daily News.

Barth had been teaching and coaching at Lindenwold for the past nine years.
