Ruptured Gas Line Forces Mall Evacuation

A ruptured gas line forced the evacuation of several stores outside a South Jersey mall.

The gas line was struck in the parking lot of the Sears Automotive store on the property of the Moorestown Mall along Route 38 in Moorestown, N.J. around 9 a.m. Tuesday, according Burlington County authorities.

The Sears Automotive store and several attached business were evacuated as a precaution as well as the Moorestown Mall.

Hovering 1,000 feet above the scene, the SkyForce10 crew reported they could smell the natural gas from the leak.

Crews were able to contain the leak about an hour later, authorities said. The evacuation order was lifted a short time later.

There are no reports of any injuries.
