Rowan University Student Hospitalized After Explosion

The blast happened while students were conducting a science experiment on-campus, according to school officials.

An explosion at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey sent a female student to the hospital Wednesday night, according to school officials.

Joe Cardona, Vice President for University Relations, says It happened while students were conducting an experiment in a science lab. Cardona tells NBC10 an oxygen tank exploded in the student's face and she suffered lacerations.

Hazmat crews were called in after the incident.

The student was flown to the hospital. Cardona says her injuries do not appear life-threatening.
