Rowan RA's Boyfriend, Friends Invade Campus-Run Apartments: Cops

Police say that the woman lent her boyfriend her swipe card giving him access to campus-run apartments over winter break.

A resident assistant at Rowan University in New Jersey lent her swipe card to her boyfriend, giving him and his friends access to multiple campus-run apartments over the last few days – and they took full advantage, according to police.

Authorities believe the boyfriend and two of his friends were working alone when they allegedly broke into the Rowan Boulevard Apartments. It is unknown whether or not they burglarized the apartments or just went inside.

“Am I going to walk into a room right now and my TV is gone? My Xbox is gone? My gold chain is gone? You never know,” student Matt Rosengrant said.

The three men were caught while attempting to break into an apartment on Monday night, police say. They saw that the residence was occupied and immediately fled the scene, according to officials.

The female student contacted campus police.

All three were caught and charged with burglary and trespassing, although they didn’t have anything on them that wasn’t theirs, school officials say.

The University says they’ll use surveillance video and their swipe card system to determine whether or not they stole anything from any of the apartments.

“That trail will tell us exactly what they did, when and how,” Rowan University spokesman Dr. Joe Cardona tells NBC Philadelphia.
