Police in a New Jersey community are investigating two attempted abductions of girls in two days.

The first involved a 12-year-old girl walking to school in Roselle Tuesday, when a man at 7th Avenue and Chestnut Street allegedly lured her over to his car door and then grabbed her arm, police said.

Two days later, a 16-year-old girl said someone at 5th Avenue and Walnut grabbed her waist, police said.

In both cases, the girls were able to fight the man off. Both victims said their attacker was a man in his 30s with dark hair and a thin build, driving a silver SUV, according to police.

Gus Lowther lives nearby and said police have asked if he had any surveillance video.

"I'm very, very nervous about our community," he said.

"I will be keeping my eyes open," said Alberta Mickens.
