Armed Robber Kills Father of 2 Walking Home in North Philly

Friends and family are mourning a flower shop deliveryman who was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in North Philadelphia Friday night.

Manuel Andrade, 36, was walking home on the 2100 block of Master Street Friday at 7:11 p.m. Andrade was about a block away from his house when he was approached by two robbers, his wife told NBC10. One of the suspects opened fire and Andrade was struck once in the stomach, according to police.

Andrade was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No arrests have been made and police have not released a detailed description of the two suspects.

Andrade was a deliveryman for Flowers & Company on 19th and Sansom streets. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Nadine Louw, the owner of Flowers & Co., created a GoFundMe page for Andrade’s family.

“Manny has been helping us at Flowers & Co. for the last couple of years and quickly became our friend and right hand man,” she wrote. “His smile would light up a room and his kindness touched everyone that came into the store. Customers and employees alike were immediately drawn to him and we are devastated that he won't be there to greet us.”
