Police are searching for a man and woman who they say broke into a home in Moorestown, N.J. and then attacked the homeowner as he walked in.
The homeowner told police he returned to his house on the 100 block of W. Maple Avenue late Tuesday afternoon. As he entered his home, police say he was confronted by a man and woman in their mid to late 30’s.
The male suspect allegedly threw a punch, grazing the homeowner's face. The suspect then allegedly called for his accomplice to grab a gun.
"He was almost attacked, punches thrown at him," said Moorestown Police Lieutenant Lee Lieber. "There was a threat of a weapon involved."
Both suspects then fled the home. They were last seen driving east on Maple Avenue towards Chester Avenue. Despite the frightening attack, police say the homeowner managed to take a picture of the vehicle as the suspects sped off.
"He had the presence of mind to take a picture of the tag," Lieber said. "He should really be congratulated for that."
Police say the suspects were driving a GMC Sierra pickup with the NJ registration MYL-85V. The vehicle was reported stolen Tuesday morning in Monroe Township, according to investigators.

The homeowner, who was not injured in the attack, told police the suspects stole two rings and $300 in cash. Moorestown residents say crimes like Tuesday night's incident don't normally happen in a community that was named the best place to live in America by Money Magazine back in 2005.
"That is very alarming," said Allan Hanlon, the victim's neighbor. "There are lots of young kids in the neighborhood and a lot of young families. So that is very concerning."
