Robber Targets Montco Radio Shack: Cops

Police are investigating a Radio Shack robbery in Montgomery County.

Police are investigating a Montgomery County robbery caught on camera.

It happened last Wednesday at the Radio Shack on Welsh Road in North Wales. Surveillance video shows a hooded gunman approach the employee inside the store.

“He was taken to the back of the store at gunpoint,” said Lieutenant Gerald Dougherty of the Montgomery Township Police Department. “He made the employee open up a locker and he left with more than $200 and 30 cell phones.”

Police say the suspect ordered the employee to fill up a plastic bag with nothing but high end cell phones. He also allegedly stole money from the cash register and threatened that the worker would be dead if police came.

The suspect is described as a thin black male around 40-years of age with a light complexion, standing 5-foot-9. He was last seen wearing a Carhartt-style work jacket, black facemask, dark pants with the cuffs rolled up and dark shoes.

Police are currently investigating if the incident is related to similar robberies of Radio Shacks in Philadelphia and Lower Merion.
