Robber Pistol Whips Man During West Philly Home Invasion

A man feigned interest in renting a room in West Philadelphia Wednesday night, pistol whipping and robbing the resident once inside, police said.

The suspect inquired about the available room in a home on the 100 block of North Conestoga Street, about a block from 54th and Arch streets, and went to see it around 11:30 p.m., investigators said.

He showed up with an accomplice, who make their way inside, and then hit the resident -- a man in his 40s -- in the face with a gun and steal his electronics, including a 50-inch television, a PlayStation video game system and multiple video games, authorities said.

The two suspects took off in a white vehicle, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received stitches, officials said.
