Robber Displays His Conscience in an Odd Way

One Pa. man tried to repay 7-Eleven -- by returning the money he took in multiple armed robberies.

Since September 2009, one man has been responsible for holding-up as many as ten 7-Eleven stores in Northeast Philadelphia and four in Bensalem, according to police. However, the man chose to forego his trademark black mask and gun for a smile and an apology.

A clerk from the 7-Eleven on the 6900 block of Torresdale says a man walked up in regular street clothes and apologized for robbing the store in the past -- then tried to return a wad of cash. The clerk refused to accept the money, asked the man to leave, then hit the panic button to alert police.

The man got away, but not before the clerk noticed track marks on his arms. These may signal a drug habit and a possible explanation for his odd behavior.

Police say the man is between the ages of 21 and 25 with short dark hair and has a medium build, as can be seen on the surveillance video.

Police believe he is from the area and may hang up his conscience in favor of the mask and gun again, but could become increasingly violent.
