High-Priced Road to Victory

Tickets are still available for Game 1, but they're not cheap

Trying to score tickets to the Phillies second consecutive World Series appearance? It’s going to cost you -- big -- like the price of a car big.

Since Friday, the price of a ticket to Game 1 has risen from $82 to $125 (the seats might suck, but at least you'll be part of the action). The average cost of a ticket to see the Phils kick some Yankees butt in the Bronx is around $770 and the best value for an infield ticket is $1100 on FanSnap.com.

With almost 16,000 tickets still available for Game 2, it seems that this might be the best value of the World Series. The get in price is right around 83 bucks.

For Game 3, the first of the series to be played at Citizens Bank Park. Some are asking $549 a pop on StubHub.com for standing room only. Looking for a seat (although we’re pretty sure, you’ll be sitting on the edge of it for the entire game)? The 300 and 400 levels start at $500 each. Infield seats could cost up to $12,000 for two. For some, that’s a small price to pay for the chance to catch a World Series ball, but for others, it’s a small fortune.

And unless you’re going to Game 3, you better take it easy on Halloween, because both the Eagles and Phillies are taking over South Philly the next day. Tickets for this game are still fairly reasonable (and we use that term loosely) with the highest asking price a little under $13,000 on FanSnap.com.

But the fifth game in the series, which could possibly be the clincher, is the priciest of all. The top asking price goes as high as $25,000 – that’s more than the price of a 2009 Toyota Camry.

We want to see the Phillies take another World Championship as much as the next guy but is it really worth draining your 401K?
