Road Ragers and Speed Demons Watch Out

PennDOT and the police are putting the brakes on aggressive driving.

Local and state police were out in force across our area Thursday to crack down on dangerous drivers. That means no speeding, tailgating or cutting other cars off.

Each year thousands of Pennsylvanians are involved in accidents thanks to aggressive driving behavior, especially during bad weather, according to PennDOT. The recent blizzards in our area prompted the state transportation department and police to take action.

We tagged along with Radnor Police as they operated a checkpoint along Rt. 320. Many drivers were gracious about their driving indisgressions, but some were angry to be labeled aggressive.

"Coming down on the other side [of the hill] of course the car's going to accelerate," an angry Maria Jacobs said. "I mean, if you're gonna do this...where the driver has a fair shot. I'm not an aggressive driver."

But after getting her $155 speeding ticket, Jennifer Fuller says she thinks a little reminder is a good thing.

"I think it does need to be brought to attention and I think, you know, in today's word we all are in a rush and it's probably not a bad idea to get a reminder every once in a while," she said.
