Residents Say Drunk Teens Had Public Sex, Urinated on Homes During Wild Block Party

UPDATE: There will be no more free Summer Block Party concerts at this venue, find out why.

Residents in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties are outraged after they say an out of control party featuring intoxicated teens having public sex and urinating on the street, spilled into their neighborhood.

“My entire house was peed on, people were having sex two feet in front of my children and everyone was drunk that day,” said Sibyl Lindsay of Northern Liberties.

Residents say it all started during Radio 104.5’s summer block party at the Piazza at Schmidt’s Saturday afternoon. According to neighbors, there was a lack of both security and porta-potties during the free concerts at the event, causing the intoxicated concertgoers to spill out into the streets and use their neighborhood as a public toilet.

“There was a lot of young people in the back, underage drinking, staggering around drunk, urinating on my garage,” said Clarence Manson of Northern Liberties.

One neighbor recorded two teens having sex out in the open. Neighbors say the teens continued for another 40 minutes after they were told to leave.

NBC10 reached out to Clear Channel, the owner of Radio 104.5 for comment. A spokesperson issued the following statement:

We apologize for any of our fans who may have had a less than enjoyable experience at this past weekend’s block party. As these shows have become more popular and larger, we’ve worked with our partners at the Piazza to have them increase security and facilities.

NBC10 also contacted Westminster Management, the owner of the Piazza. A spokesman for the company placed the blame on Clear Channel.

“Unfortunately the organizers didn’t follow the requirements and standards for public events within the leased space and we are taking appropriate action,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson would not elaborate on what action the company plans on taking however. Meanwhile, Clear Channel has changed the venue to the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing for next month’s event.

“That’s good,” Manson said. “Get it out of here and I’ll be fine.”

However, a Clear Channel rep also says they plan on holding future concerts at the Piazza after the Penn's Landing event.
