Report: Former Football Coach Killed in Crash After Watching Son Coach Football Game in Bucks County

A former high school football coach died at the hospital after he and four others were injured during a multi-vehicle crash following a football game, according to the Bucks County Intelligencer.

Charles “Bud” Hollenbach, 89, of Sellersville was with his wife, 84-year-old Margaret Hollenbach Friday night at Central Bucks South High School for the game between Central Bucks and Pennridge.

Charles Hollenbach was a former football coach and teacher at Pennridge and was inducted into the Pennridge-Quakertown Area Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. His son Jeff Hollenbach is the current Pennridge football coach.

Charles and Margaret Hollenbach left the game around 9:30 p.m. As Margaret drove a 2012 Ford Fusion in the school’s rear parking lot, she somehow lost control and collided with three other vehicles, according to police.

The impact caused a chain reaction as one of the struck vehicles hit a fifth vehicle which then hit a sixth. Five people, including Hollenbach and his wife, were injured in the crash. All five victims were taken to Abington Hospital.

On Saturday, Charles Hollenbach died from his injuries, according to the Bucks County Intelligencer.

Police continue to investigate the crash. If you have any information on the accident, please call the Warrington Township Police Department at 215-343-3311.
