Rats! Cherry Hill Neighborhood Invaded

The rodents are running rampant in the backyards of Kingston Estates residents.

Rats have been making themselves at home since the beginning of June in one Cherry Hill neighborhood.

In an effort to fight the infestation, one resident of Kingston Estates sends her three cats out at night to kill the rats.

“It’s literally every morning that I have go to outside and see what’s out there and it’s nasty,” says homeowner Diana McMullen.

According to the Department of Health there is an unusual migration of the rodents in an underground storm drain that runs through the backyards of the many of the homes in Kingston Estates.

"All they need is food, water and shelter and they will dig in," one health official told InJersey.com.

”They’re coming out in alarming numbers, so it’s a real concern,” another resident tells NBC Philadelphia.

The township says they’re ready to start exterminating once the Camden County Health Department gives them the OK.

“Something has to be done, it’s just a health hazard now,” McMullen says.
