The City of Brotherly Love hasn’t been too lovely this year. Philadelphia has already been hit with 158 homicides in 2011, a 21% increase from last year's number of 146 during this time of the year.

Many local neighborhoods grew up on the phrase, "Stop Snitching," a street term that refers to individuals not giving known information to law enforcement and different media outlets.

Philadelphia radio personality, Star, from the Star and Buc Wild morning show on 100.3 The Beat is re-launching a ‘Start Snitching’ campaign for the city of Philadelphia and it’s surrounding areas. He hopes to reduce the neighborhood violence in Philly.

Star is bringing back a campaign that helped out the city of New York during its struggle with violence back in 2002.

The 'Start Snitching' campaign is more than just words being spoken on the microphone, it’s a commitment I've taken on personally!" said Star.

When asked about his "street credibility” by globalgrind.com, Star simply stated “ I don’t give a f*** about street credibility."

Time will tell just how effective Star's campaign for Philly will be.
