Caught on Cam Nursing Home Gets License Back
Haverford's Quadrangle where elder abuse was allegedly caught on camera gets license reinstated

Pennsylvania state officials have reinstated elder-care home operator Sunrise Senior Living Inc.’s license to operate a facility where a hidden camera allegedly captured aides assaulting and mocking a half-naked dementia patient.
The company had its license revoked on April 29, following the alleged incident at the Quadrangle Continuing Care Retirement Community in Haverford.
NBCPhiladelphia.com obtained a copy of the provisional license, which is in effect from May 26 until Nov. 26. The license states that Sunrise “will fully implement the plan of correction.”
The provisional agreement has 20 terms of agreement. It gives sunrise a month to put in place an “independent, qualified oversight organization;” to revamp the hiring process to focus on “experiences, behaviors, knowledge, skills and abilities that are job-related;” to revamp training programs; and to implement performance evaluations.
Sunrise also now has 90 days to hire a full-time administrator with a college degree and work experience in human services, according to the provisional license.
Last month, state regulators said that their investigation of the incident uncovered violations that demonstrated gross incompetence, negligence and misconduct. The investigation also found that a Quadrangle administrator did not report allegations of abuse to the state or the county.
Investigators found three different incidents or complaints of abuse from March.
Delaware County authorities charged three aides with aggravated assault, neglect of a care-dependent person and other crimes.
Sunrise Senior Living operates 17 facilities in Pennsylvania, and more than 300 facilities in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. The company is based in McLean, Va. Shares ended the regular session down a penny to $9.55 on Thursday.
