Four people face animal cruelty charges after police say two men were repeatedly dropping several small puppies from a Pennsylvania bridge.
The Centre Daily Times reports a witness reported seeing the puppies being dropped 25 feet into a river from the Stone Arch Bridge in Lewistown, Pa. -- that’s about 30 minutes southeast of State College. Authorities responded and police say the dogs, German shepherd mix puppies, were taken away.
Investigators say 22-year-old Lewistown resident Cody Ritter and 20-year-old Burnham resident Dustin Fetters were charged with animal cruelty. Telephone listings for the men could not immediately be located.
Police say two Lewistown women who own the dogs, 23-year-old Karissa Walters, and 20-year-old Shawnee Strawser, were allowing the men to abuse the animals. They were also charged with animal cruelty. It couldn't immediately be determined if they had attorneys.
