New Jersey Bank Robbery Suspect Said He Had Bomb: Prosecutors

Bail has been set at $200,000 cash for a man who allegedly robbed a bank in central New Jersey.

Authorities say 46-year-old Daniel Rathsmith, of Wall, entered the Santander Bank in Belmar shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday and handed a teller a note demanding cash and threatening that he had a bomb. He fled after being given an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen leaving the area in a pickup truck.

Authorities tracked the truck to a motel in Wall, where Rathsmith was taken into custody.

Rathsmith faces up to 20 years in state prison if convicted.
