Prosecutor: Skeletal Remains Found in South Jersey

Cops say a hunter found the remains in a wooded area in Hamilton Township

Authorities are working to determine whether skeletal remains found in a wooded area of South Jersey are human.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said Saturday afternoon that a hunter - whose name was not disclosed - found the remains in Hamilton Township earlier in the day, in the area of Ocean Heights Avenue.

Specific details about the remains were not disclosed. Housel would only say that they were collected by the county medical examiner's office and will be sent to forensic anthropologists for further examination and testing.

Housel said the county's major crimes unit is leading the investigation, but declined further comment on the matter.
