Federal prosecutors are trying to work out a deal with a Delaware doctor accused of participating in illegal drug sales on the underground website known as Silk Road.
A judge postponed a scheduled Thursday arraignment for Alexandra Gold until Jan. 30 after public defenders said attorneys were trying to resolve the case without a trial.
Gold and her live-in partner, Dr. Olivia Bolles, have been indicted on charges of maintaining a dwelling for drugs. The two gynecologists were charged after federal agents in Florida tracked shipments of drugs bought on the website to Delaware.
Gold, suspended from her position as an instructor at Johns Hopkins University's medical school in Baltimore, is out on bond. Authorities say Gold told investigators she helped Bolles package drugs for shipment.
Since her arrest, Bolles admitted to using illegal drugs herself. She reported using two bags of heroin daily, smoking marijuana daily and using cocaine weekly.
