Professor Tries a 3rd Time for US Senate

A college professor who has twice run unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey is going to try again.

Murray Sabrin says he will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Sen. Cory Booker in this year's election.

The Ramapo College finance professor has tried three times to win statewide office. He sought the GOP nomination for Senate in 2000 and 2008 and ran for governor as a member of the Libertarian Party in 1997.

Other candidates in the Republican Senate primary are Brian Goldberg, a West Orange businessman who is a political newcomer; Jeffrey Bell, who ran twice for the Senate more than 30 years ago and is moving back to New Jersey from Virginia; and Freehold businessman Richard Pezullo, who ran twice for the Senate in the 1990s under the Conservative Party banner.
