Abduction Hoax Mom's Dad Gets Probation

Probation is the punishment for the wave of emotion William Siner unleashed on the day his daughter -- abduction hoax mom Bonnie Sweeten -- was sentenced to jail.

Siner, 67, walked out of the courtroom and into a crush of photographers and reporters with lights on, cameras rolling.

He attacked two photographers, pushing one of them to the ground. And of course, the whole episode was caught on tape.

"I just lost it," Siner told a judge the first time he answered to assault charges in early September.

Siner has never been in trouble with the law before and is a stand up guy in his community who also has a history of distinguished service with the military, says the Philly Burbs.

But even with that reputation, the judge said Friday when he sentenced Siner to a year and a half of probation, that he did consider sending him to jail.

"Just because he didn't like what happened in court, it doesn't give him the right to go after people," said Judge Wallace Bateman.

Siner's behavior was "understandable," but not excusable, the judge said.

"This is a courthouse and we have to maintain order. You attacked people who were just doing their jobs."

Siner's daughter will be released from prison at the end of February to serve out the rest of her term, just like her dad -- under house arrest.
