A Montgomery County town refused to let the Grinch steal Christmas despite a heist that damaged its Santa house.
The Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority (PDIDA) released photos Thursday of the damage done to its Santa house and Christmas storage trailer while they were parked in a city parking lot.
The thief broke windows, pried open the trailer (similar to one hauled by a truck) and stole various items, said PDIDA.
“Given our few resources to hold our holiday events, it saddens us to think the Grinch would visit our town and leave such destruction,” said PDIDA in a news release. “But very much like the story in Whoville, Pottstown is a community that will not allow this to change our mission of bringing hundreds of children and families holiday cheer.”
PDIDA hoped the community would come together to volunteer time or money to help replace the missing and damaged items.
NBC10 is awaiting word from Pottstown Police about where the investigation stands.
