A broken piece of a trailer hitch prompted a bomb scare in Center City Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police shut down the intersection of 18th and Spruce after people discovered what seemed to be a pipe bomb sitting on top of a USPS mailbox.

The bomb squad and even a bomb-diffusing robot were called into action to determine if the device was actually explosive.

After about an hour, it was determined the device was just part of a trailer hitch.

The street was reopened a short time later.
