Possible Cell Phone Ban Coming for Philly Drivers

City Council to hear arguments Tuesday

Philly City Council will be hearing arguments for and against a proposed cell phone ban for drivers Tuesday, according to blog Philly Clout.

Three council members originally brought up the "hands off" phone law in August 2008.

If passed, the law would restrict drivers from clutching their phones while driving – including for text messaging and email. Drivers would be allowed to use hands-free devices like Bluetooth headsets.

The proposed law already has an opposition. Outspoken MontCo lawyer Phillip Berg has pledged to rep anyone who is ticketed for breaking the law.

Berg is known for spearheading an outlandish lawsuit claiming Barack Obama was not an American citizen. He asked U.S. Supreme Court to stop Obama from taking office. His suit was obviously dismissed.
