Possible Break in Kensington Serial Rapist Case

DNA links man to at least one of the cases, police say.

Philadelphia Police may have found the man responsible for several rapes and assaults in Kensington last fall.

At least four women, who worked as prostitutes, were raped, beaten and robbed during a string of attacks that began in October 2009, police say.

An unidentified man, who is in custody in Montgomery County for a parole violation, is allegedly tied to at least one of the cases, police say.

Police say the man's DNA matches a sample recovered after one of the assaults.

The suspect was one of 75 men taken into custody during a 12-week sting operation in December. He and 17 others were swabbed for DNA because they resembled the suspect's sketch.

Sources say a warrant is expected to be issued for the man soon.
