Boy, 16, Shot in Back During Argument at Philadelphia Intersection

An argument between two groups of young people in Philadelphia’s Poplar neighborhood escalated into a shooting that left a teenager shot in the back.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. Friday at 7th Street and Fairmount Avenue when two groups began to argue. At some point someone took out a gun, according to Philadelphia police.

A bullet struck a 16-year-old boy in the back. He remained conscious as medics rushed him to Hahnemann Hospital, according to police.

Police only had a vague description of the shooter saying he wore a white T-shirt and a backpack.

In the moments after the shooting, investigators blocked off traffic as the police chopper used a searchlight to scour the area.
