Police in Chester Probe 3 Slayings, Hit-and-Run Death

Police in the violence-plagued city of Chester near Philadelphia are seeking help from the public in their investigation of three shooting deaths and a fatal hit-and-run.

Deputy Police Commissioner Otis Blair says one of the shooting victims, a 47-year-old man hit by a bullet shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the William Penn Housing Project, appears to have been an innocent bystander.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday, a police officer heard multiple shots fired downtown and found a 23-year-old man lying on the pavement. He died shortly afterward at a hospital. On Friday morning, a 36-year-old man was found shot and later died.

Police are also seeking a sport utility vehicle in connection with the death of 63-year-old Reginald Collins, who was struck and killed early Sunday.
